Paul’s Vindication of His Apostleship

For I would have you know brethren, that the Gospel which was preached by me is not man’s gospel for I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God violently and tried to destroy it and I advanced Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my father’s but when He had set me apart before I was born and had called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son to me, in order that I may preach among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were Apostles before me but I went away into Arabia and again I returned to Damascus.

Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days but I saw none of the other Apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.  Galatians 1:11-19

The Boy Jesus in the Temple

Now every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of (Pesach) Passover and when He was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival. When the festival ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem but His parents did not know it. Assuming that He was in the group of travelers, they went a day’s journey, then they started to look for Him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for Him. After three days they found Him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers listening to them and asking them questions and all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.

When His parents saw Him they were astonished and His mother said to Him: “Child, why have You treated us like this? Look, Your father and I have been searching for You in great anxiety.”

Jesus said to them: “Why were you searching for Me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father’s house?” — They did not understand what He said to them. Then Jesus went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.  Luke 2:41-51

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters, He  restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, Thou anoints my head with oil, my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord for ever.  Psalm 23

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David–that is my Gospel, for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal but the Word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure everything–so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. They saying is sure:

If we have died with Him, we will also live with Him.

If we endure, we will also reign with Him.

If we deny Him, He will deny us.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful–for He cannot deny Himself.

Remind them of this and warn them before God, that they are to avoid wrangling over words, which does no good but only ruins those who are listening. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by Him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the Word of Truth. 2 Timothy 2:8-15
