Trinity SundayIn the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit – The Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come. Matthew 28:19B, Revelation 1:8

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God and not only that but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character and character produces hope and hope does not disappoint us because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.  Romans 5:1-5

I still have many things to say to you but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth for He will not speak on His own but will speak whatever He hears and He will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify Me because He will take what is Mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is Mine. For this reason, I said that He will take what is Mine and declare it to you.  John 16:12-15

O Happy Virgin, you gave birth to the Lord;
O Blessed Mother of the Church,
you warm our hearts with the Spirit of your Son, Jesus Christ!

Standing near the Cross of Jesus were His Mother and His Mother’s sister, Mary the wife of

Clopas and Mary Magdalene, when Jesus saw His Mother and the Disciple whom He loved

(St. John The Apostle) standing beside her, Jesus said to His Mother, “Woman, here is your

Son.” Then Jesus said to His Disciple, “Here is your Mother.” From that hour the Disciple took

her into his home.

After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, He said (in order to fulfill the Holy

Scripture) “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was standing there, so they put a sponge full of

the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to His mouth. When Jesus had received the wine He

said, “It is finished.” Then He bowed his head and gave up His Spirit.

Jesus’ Side Is Pierced

Since it was the day of Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the Cross during

the Sabbath, especially because that Shabbos was a day of great solemnity. So they asked Pilate

to have the legs of the crucified men broken and the bodies removed. Then the Soldiers came

and broke the legs of the first and the other man who had been crucified with him (Jesus) but

when they came to Jesis and saw He was already dead, they did not break His legs. Instead, one

of the Soldiers pierced His side with a spear and at once blood and water came out.

John 19:25-34

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Brothers and Sisters:

No one can say, “Jesus is Lord” except the Holy Spirit.

There are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit and there are varieties of services but the same

Lord; There are varieties of activities but it is the same God who activates all of them in

everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given

through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge

according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by

the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the

discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues (languages) to another the

interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same (Holy) Spirit, who allots

to each one individually just as the (Holy) Spirit chooses.

One Body With Many Members

For just as the body is one and has many members and all the members of the body, though

many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one (Holy) Spirit we were all baptized into

one body — Jews, Greeks, slaves or free and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:3B-13

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week and the doors of the house where the

Disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and

said, “Peace be with you!”

After Jesus said this, He showed them His hands and His side.

Then the Disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, so I send you.”

When he had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you

forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; If you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

John 20:19-23

Jesus proclaimed, “Go therefore and make Disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you and remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” –Matthew 28:19-20

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning until the day

when He was taken up to Heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the Apostles whom

He had chosen. After His suffering he presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs,

appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the Kingdom of God. While staying with them,

He ordered them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said,

“is what you have heard from me; For John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy

Spirit not many days from now.” (Matthew 3:11; Luke 3:16)

The Ascension of Jesus the Lord

When they had come together, they asked Him, ‘Lord, is this the time when You will restore the Kingdom

of Israel?’ Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know the times pr periods that the Father has set by His own

authority but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my

witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” When Jesus had said this,

as they were watching, He was lifted up and a cloud took Him out of their sight. While He was going and

they were gazing up toward Heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of

Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward Heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into

Heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go onto Heaven.” –Acts 1:1-11
