When money is no object and your staying on the taxpayers dime or in this case in a $7,000 a night suite, Barack Obama stays at the Waldorf Astoria one of New York’s premier luxury hotels.
Less than a year ago Presidential Candidate Obama said, “…we need honest leadership and real change…Now make no mistake, the change we need won’t come easy or without cost. We all need to tighten our belts, we all need to sacrifice and we all need to pull our weight because now more than ever, we are all in this together.”
Riiiight! The average American will never spend $7,000 per night for a hotel suite when the average per capita personal income in the USA in 2008 is $39,751
Saying anything to get elected—some sacrifice!

Don’t be ridiculous. Every single President since it the Waldorf-Astoria opened has stayed at the Presidential Suite. Their is a pre-allocated fund which pays for all of these things. And $7,000 is literally less than one ten-billionth of the entire budget. You’ve said nothing different from suggesting that somebody should have saved one penny in order to help save for a brand-new jet airplane and brand-new 100 foot long yacht. OBVIOUSLY the President of the United States of American needs such accomodations when in New York City, for security reasons and for “Presentation” when meeting with dignitaries from other countries.
Seriously, these sorts of remarks embarrass the Republican Party. You guys need to quit it with the garbage-can issues and move on to something substantive. Stop being brainwashed by Fox News and get some REAL news that actually presents some thoughtful commentary about these complicated, multifaceted issues.
Definitely is a swanky suite at $7,000 a night. Shouldn’t Americans know how President Obama lives while out of town on the taxpayers dime? I thought Obama believed in transparency?
Since when was spending taxpayers money a “garbage can issue?” Don’t spill your Kool Aid.
