A special kind of classChildren Are All Special –Image: A Special Kind of Class

(LA Times) In another special distinction which California owns, the state ranks in the bottom rung of states and territories in the academic achievement of children with disabilities, according to new federal rankings released today.

In the bottom group together with California are: Delaware, Texas, the Bureau of Indian Education, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.

On the 22 June, I wrote here that Gov Jerry Brown and State Lawmakers are due to receive a pay hike we’re told for their dubious job performance, all the while the state budget deficit swells out of control, the state is ranked as the worst state in the nation to do business according to an annual survey of CEO’s across the country and now we also learn that ‘special needs’ children would be better off to receive their education in practically any state other than California.

So Sad!

(UPI) Woops…Electric cars despite their alleged ‘Green Credentials’ are among the environmentally dirtiest transportation options a U.S. researcher says.

Writing in the IEEE Spectrum researcher Ozzie Zehner says electric cars lead to hidden environmental and health damages and are likely more harmful than gasoline cars and other transportation options.

California Governor & Lawmakers Receive Pay Hike Despite Exploding $421,850,000,000 Deficit and Ranked as Worst State for Business

Sunday, June 22nd, 2014

Gov Jerry Brown

(LA Times) After eliminating opposition to a pay hike for California lawmakers Gov Jerry Brown, 120 state lawmakers together with 10 other elected state officials were granted a 2% pay hike on last Friday by a state panel whose members claim, that California’s (dubiously) improving economy and budget situation justifies their raises.

Huh???

What improving economy and budget situation?  California’s rapidly expanding budget deficit is $421,850,000,000 (per person is presently $10,961)

On the 01 June, I wrote here subsequent to a recent audit of state books it revealed accounting irregularities and an additional budget shortfall of $31+ Billion that together with a $78 Million+ forecast (ObamaCare) ‘Covered California’ deficit next year and ranked as the worst state for business in 2014 according to an annual survey of CEO’s across the United States doesn’t exactly sound like anyone in Sacramento deserves the salary they’ve been receiving, let alone a pay hike.

(LA Times) Rental home costs are going to continue to rise–nearly 78% of Southern California apartment building owners say they plan to hike rents in the next 12 months according to a new survey from real estate broker Marcus & Millichap about 22% plan to increase rents by at least 3%

On the 04 June, I wrote here that over half of Americans reportedly are already struggling to keep their homes and the problem is only going to get worse.

Say Good-Bye to Prop 13 ?

In May, The Sacramento Bee–Capitol Alert reported after decades of wrangling by Democrats (that just can’t seem to confiscate enough of taxpayers money to spend, I digress) during a hearing of the ‘Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee’ lawmakers agreed on changes to the 1978 law governing reassessments of commercial property when it changes hands, citing one of their old stand-by favorite liberal arguments ‘fairness’ of the tax system, as if voters were not smart enough when Prop 13 passed by a 2 to 1 margin.

Will confiscating more money from commercial/business property owners actually result in more “fairness” that Democrats like to claim or just raise the costs of doing business and make things (such as rental costs) more expensive?

The latter of course, as Forbes correctly points out–Corporations (such as rental property owners) don’t pay taxes they pass on their business costs and expenses to their customers or in this case, to their tenants in the form of higher rents.

Why is it that California voters continue to reelect liberals to Sacramento is anyones guess–Just as, how many licks does it take to get to the ‘Tootsie Roll’ center of a “Tootsie Roll Pop” the world may never know?
