Children Are All Special –Image: A Special Kind of Class
(LA Times) In another special distinction which California owns, the state ranks in the bottom rung of states and territories in the academic achievement of children with disabilities, according to new federal rankings released today.
In the bottom group together with California are: Delaware, Texas, the Bureau of Indian Education, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.
On the 22 June, I wrote here that Gov Jerry Brown and State Lawmakers are due to receive a pay hike we’re told for their dubious job performance, all the while the state budget deficit swells out of control, the state is ranked as the worst state in the nation to do business according to an annual survey of CEO’s across the country and now we also learn that ‘special needs’ children would be better off to receive their education in practically any state other than California.
So Sad!
(Politico) Los Angeles Superior Ct Judge Rolf M Treu on Tuesday, found five California laws governing the hiring and firing of teachers unconstitutional–striking a huge blow to unions and may likely now fuel political movements across the nation to eliminate tenure.
In a blunt well reasoned 16 page opinion Judge Treu, found the statutes providing tenure permits too many grossly incompetent teachers to remain in the classroom, shortchanging their students.
Education reformers, plan to take this fight to other states and are considering similar litigation in Connecticut, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and elsewhere, hoping that the strong language of Judge Treu’s decision will prompt Democrats elsewhere to reconsider their ties to teacher’s unions.
Today’s decision is definitely a victory for students and taxpayers alike.

(FOX Nation) More stupid political correctness. A Portland, Oregon junior high school suspended a student pending a “risk assessment” and turned him over to Police because he ‘doodled’ a stick person being hanged.
According to Courthouse News Service Robert Bernard Keller has filed suit against the Beaverton Police Dept alleging that his 13 year old son was interviewed at school and removed from his classroom to be questioned by Police regarding an alleged ‘threat of harm’ and other offenses based on a doodle that the 13 year old child drew during class.
Good Grief–I remember when I was but 5 or 6 playing ‘Hangman’ and guessing the letters of words to avoid getting hung, who would have thought that this was somehow dangerous, threatening behavior, posing some sort of (imaginary) risk in the 21st century.

Rialto School District 8th Grade Class Holocaust Research Assignment

(KTLA) The Rialto Unified School District plans to ‘revise’ a middle school class assignment that raised red flags (no doubt) asking students to consider arguments about whether the Nazi Holocaust was not an “actual event” but instead a propaganda tool that was used for political and monetary gain.
Following heavy opposition and death threats because of the school assignment, Southern California Public Radio 89.3 reported that Rialto School District Interim Supt Mohammad Z Islam (mislam@rialto.k12.ca.us) was set to discuss this matter with administrators today to “assure that any references to the Holocaust ‘not occurring’ will be stricken on any or current argumentative research assignments,” Rialto School district spokesperson Syeda Jafri read.
Rialto Unified School District just recently appointed Mohammad Z Islam as Interim Supt according to the Daily Bulletin following the retirement of Supt Harold Cebrun and the resignation school accountant of Judith Oakes who has been charged with embezzling $1.8 Million from the school district over 8 years.
Following Mohammad Z Islam’s appointment he said that his “mission is to change the status and condition of Rialto.”
Change he most certainly did–There is no word yet when the Holocaust denying radical Muslim Mohammad Islam, will tender his resignation or be terminated from Rialto School District–It can’t be too soon.

According to the Columbus Dispatch Devonshire Principal Patricia Price ‘warned’ students about making pretend guns.
Columbus City Schools spokesman Jeff Warner said, “The kids were told, If you don’t stop this kind of stuff, there would be consequences–Its just been escalating.”
Ohio Democrat State Senator Charleta Tavares weighed in on the controversy according to CNN.com saying, “The bigger issue is that we need more behavior health counseling at school so we can look at the root cause why this child is acting out and being disruptive.”
I’m wondering if Ohio Democrat State Senator Tavares, penned off a letter to VP Joe Biden, expressing her loony liberal anti-pretending gun sentiments to him, recommending mental health counseling and behavioral modification?

Franklin Regional H.S. Anti-Bullying ‘Safe School’ Policy
(CNN) At least 20 people were injured by a knife wielding assailant this morning at ‘Gun Free Zone’ Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pennsylvania.
The stabbings occurred in a classroom and a hallway, at least seven students are being treated for life threatening injuries and two of the victims were sent to surgery almost immediately upon arrival at Forbes Regional hospital.
How is that politically correct ‘Gun Free/Anti-Bullying’ safe school policy working out that effectively disarms potential victims and not the criminal assailant?

(CBS News) Had any Republican done this, it may have been said that they were having a Dan Quayle moment and it would have been front page news, splashed over every major newspaper in the country but for Obama–practically crickets.
Obama on Thursday while hosting “In Performance at the White House–Women on Soul” lauding Aretha Franklin said, “Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her…”
It just may be that Obama’s misspelling “R-S-P-E-C-T” is part of that new Common Core curriculum standard which the Obama administration is pushing on schools today, in which there are no right or wrong answers to a question just as long as little ‘Susie and Johnny’ can explain the procedures of how they arrived at the wrong answer to a test question.
