Covered California Claims Its Very Close at Meeting Its Goals But What are the Facts?
Democrats claimed their original goal was to insure 30 Million uninsured Americans, so for California to do its part, I wrote here that 1.1 Million insured California residents lost their health insurance.
So if we’re to believe ‘Covered California’ it has been able to reinsure some 625,000 out of 1.1 Million residents who previously purchased their own health insurance but were canceled because of the ACA, how does this keep the risk pool balanced to prevent the ObamaCare death spiral which destroys the private insurance marketplace?
While were discussing the ObamaCare/Covered California enrollment numbers, how many of the enrollees have actually paid their first months premiums?
We know that according to ‘Covered California’ that it claims (above) that 1.2 Million+ enrollees are: (a) transitioning to Medi-Cal; (b) eligible for Medi-Cal.
What is ‘Covered California’ not telling us about its actual enrollment data?
Whoops, Reality Check…
25% of ‘Covered California’ Enrollees Have Yet to Pay 1st Premium

(California Catholic) Faced with rapidly changes in the health care system resulting from ObamaCare, cuts in reimbursement and an uncertain economy, Daughters of Charity Health System which includes six hospitals spanning from the San Francisco Bay area to Los Angeles announced this week it was putting its hospitals up for sale.
Daughters of Charity Health System in California have a rich history beginning in 1852 founding a hospital and orphanage in San Francisco, serving the sick and those who live in poverty.
‘Daughters of Charity’ have 8,000 associates and physicians that it employs, their futures remain uncertain.
(Washington Examiner) State of California is piling up debt almost as fast as the federal government–Big states dominate the top 10 list with California being in the worst shape at $778 Billion in total debt.
ObamaCare makes matters even worse as ‘Covered California’ projects it will lose $78 Million beginning next year.
On the 14 May, 2012 I wrote here that California’s out of control economic crisis is a result of overly burdensome regulations, ever increasing taxes and out of control spending–the present economic catastrophe unfortunately was all too predictable and the only solution remains is a robust ‘supply side economic plan’ that will create incentives for real economic opportunity and expansion, resulting in an increasing tax base and new revenue streams.

(Red Alert Politics) I’m either on drugs or ‘Covered California’ and the Obama Administration is just helplessly stupid to believe that it’s “Get Covered Campaign” which hijacked public access television and online for more than 6 hours The Blaze reported starting on Thursday afternoon (when many American taxpayers were at work to pay for this stupidity–I digress) would somehow entice young Americans to purchase ObamaCare.
On the 09 January, I wrote here if ‘Covered California’ is so good why do they continue to waste money on stupid ads (wouldn’t ObamaCare sell itself) especially after forecasting a $78 Million deficit beginning next year?
WarmCarbs/Obama’s OFA “What is a soap fault exception tho@CoveredCA? Am I being denied insurance because I smell bad?”
M.E. Welman from L.A. “@CoveredCA Seven Anthem ID cards sent for a policy I did not sign or pay. Zero ID cards for policy I DID sign and pay.”

Amy Bronderslev-Alvord from Upland “I am an insurance agent am having trouble logging in. I was able to last night. However, today I am told ‘not authorized.’ I tried calling SHOP (which is busy) and Customer Service (which says good-bye and hangs up on you) and sat in live chat queue for 2 hours and then was told no one is available to help me when it was my turn…”
Louisa Kwan “After 2 months call every day 8 hour both to Covered CA and Blue Cross wait and wait. Got the same answer, ‘wait and it will come soon.’ Request to talk with a supervisor, eventually she promised to send a special rush request based on my situation. On the 14th of January late evening, I got a call from them and she email me my temp ID. Wow! I am so happy and it won’t work until today. Jan 16, 2014 Start call the doctor to make the appointment…in network doctor–he don’t accept the insurance through Covered California…Call another, another and another, I call around ten different ones. Same answer…if you mention it is the plan through Covered California they will say they don’t have contact with Covered California program…How can I find a doctor? More research later—Why we need to pay for this insurance????? Don’t tell me to wait or call. I really did all the research before I post this.”
Alex Cheng from Long Beach “I have unsuccessfully tried to log in to your web portal for 2 days now. I am trying to use the user name and password I created during the registration process however I keep encountering an “Invalid user name or password” error. Instead of simply allowing me to reset my password as most websites do, I am told that I ‘need to a Customer Service Representative, please call the phone number…’ for which I get a busy signal. Then when I try the ‘online chat’ and waiting for HOURS for my place on the queue, I ultimately get a ‘There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later’ message. I short, all I am trying to do is to log into your website but there is ABSOLUTELY no way for me to do since there is ABSOLUTELY no way for me to get in contact with anyone at Covered California to resolve my user name/password issue. I cannot adequately express my frustration, I am having with your website. As a California taxpayer, I find your ‘customer service’ to be completely and utterly unacceptable. Instead of ‘a day of live music arts, special guest appearances and hilarious skits’ you should fix your website.”
Scott Saylor from Twin Peaks “I don’t understand. Whenever I try to call, your answering machine answers and then hangs up on me saying ‘good-bye’ without providing any information about any other number I could possibly try to call. Its unacceptable that you simply hang up on the citizens of California without having a waiting queue, without even attempting to answer the phone. It is truly unacceptable. If you have a high call volume, you answer the phones one by one, you don’t hang up on everybody. This is what the employment development department did in 2008…high call volume so we’re just going to cut off our phones! Outrageous. You should be ashamed of yourselves.”
Wayne Major from Ventura “There is all kinds of providers listed but when you contact them to make an appointment they tell you they have no contract with the ‘Covered California’ part of Blue Shield! So WTF? You can list any doctors you want but if they say no we don’t accept ‘Covered California’ what is one to do?”
Eric DaGreat “LOL, trying to get registered on the site and its got a java problem. Freaking ACA is a joke.”
Eric DaGreat (January 14) “OK, so let me get this straight. I’m paying more money for less coverage, creating more profits for insurers because of ObamaCare and on top of that, they need a bailout? WTF? I’ve tried calling my insurer 10 times over the past two days and have not been able to talk to anyone. Ridiculous.”

John Pack from Dana Point “Well, your site is not working once again. You get an error message right after you enter the clients info, before the security question comes up. Had to postpone three telephone applications.”
Aimee Pfaff “You sit on hold for hours and hope you don’t get disconnected like I just did after 30 minutes on hold with my 4th call to ‘Covered California’ this week. It is hopeless. Covered CA reps can’t or won’t do anything to help anyone and they have no special # to call the insurance carriers, you can’t get through to the insurance carriers as an agent or consumer and they won’t hire enough people to help resolve all the issues because it would cut in to their profit margins. I am # 104 in the queue on the SHOP line so back to square (one) forced to waste yet another day dealing with this nightmare.”
Rob F from Berkeley@Twitter “I guess the rumor about the painful sign-up for health care with @CoveredCA are true.”
