(Washington Free Beacon)  The Natl Institutes of Health has awarded a $224,250 research grant to San Diego State University in November, to study how to introduce healthy menus (specifically targeting Latino children) in an effort to alter the “ordering behavior” of children in restaurants.

Flashback: Remember when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed about federal spending restraints, “The cupboard is bare there is no more cuts to make. I think its really important that people understand that.”

Covered California Giving the Gift of Health Care Woes

Covered California

(LA Times) ObamaCare/Covered California which has violated the privacy of  tens of thousands of residents by providing to insurance agents the personal contact information of people visiting the online website without their consent, which 70% of doctors are reportedly boycotting and refusing to participate in has initiated its latest PR gimmick, wanting residents to “pledge” to have a conversation of the wonders of centralized planning, government managed health care around the dining room table this Christmas–Good luck with that.

(Yahoo Finance) ObamaCare high deductibles fuel new worries–many people with modest incomes are encountering a troubling element of the federal health care law, deductibles so steep, they may not be able to afford the portion of medical expenses that insurance doesn’t cover, subverting one of the ACA stated goals, which to ensure more people receive needed health care. Hospitals in the meantime are bracing for a rise in unpaid bills.

For policies offered in the federal exchange as in many states, the annual deductible often tops $5,000 for an individual, $10,000 for a couple.

In El Paso, Texas for example, a husband and wife both age 35 one of the cheapest ObamaCare compliant plans on the federal exchange offered by Blue Cross & Blue Shield has a premium less than $300 but the annual deductible is more than $12,000 For a 45 year old couple seeking health insurance on the federal exchange in Saginaw, Michigan a policy with a premium of $515 has a deductible of $10,000

In Santa Cruz, California, Robert Aaron a self-employed 56 year old Engineer said he was looking for a low cost plan on Covered California, the best one he could find had a premium of $488 a month but the annual deductible was $5,000 and that he said, “sounds really high.”

Covered California Enrollments May Be “Looking Pretty Good” If One Is Willing To Dismiss Reality

ObamaCare Covered CaliforniaObamaCare/Covered California: 1.1 Million Health Ins Policies Canceled Less Than 80,000 Have Signed Up for Govt Managed Health Insurance
Image: SoquelCreek@Twitter

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman writes that ObamaCare/Covered California is “looking pretty good” but that is, only if one dismisses reality.

Nearly two months have lapsed since the ObamaCare roll-out took place and the facts in California and the nation speak for themselves and no political hyperbole, Obama Administration talking points or their dinosaur media minions can spin the numbers to say they mean something different than what they are.

The Los Angeles Times reports that ‘Covered California’ health insurance exchange has posted ‘solid enrollment’ since the October 01–signing up nearly 80,000 people in ObamaCare approved health plans through the 19 November but fails to take into account for over 1 million cancellation notices that have been sent out to California residents that had and paid for their own health insurance before ObamaCare or the other mostly unreported consequences since the federal seizure of 20% of the nations economy.

Likewise, according to Watchdog.org a recent survey of California’s top hospitals has revealed that most contract with only 1 or 2 insurance companies under ObamaCare even though ‘Covered California’ has 11 companies left to choose from following the departure of three major health insurance providers that have chose to opt out of one of the largest insurance markets in the nation. Loma Linda Univ Medical Center has refused to participate altogether and has no contracts with ObamaCare participating insurance companies, leaving people with fewer health care  and insurance options than before the federal mandated health insurance law went into effect.

Nationwide the news doesn’t get any better, according to US News & World Report in late October, Americans who sign-up for ObamaCare will be getting a big surprise if they expect premium health care that may been previously covered under their personal policies. Most of the top hospitals will only accept insurance from just one or two companies under ObamaCare.

Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal in its assessment of Obama’s signature legislative achievement reports that “ObamaCare’s insurance costs more in return for worse coverage.”

How sad–that this was the best Obama and a Democrat Majority Congress had to offer Americans, when they rammed through the ‘Affordable Unaffordable Care Act’ without a single Republican vote, which we all now know whats in the bill since they passed it.

Mr. Obama: What Do You Have to Say to 7 Yr Old Hunter Alford Who Has Lost His Health Ins Coverage Because of ObamaCare

Friday, November 29th, 2013

Obama LetterObama’s ‘Respectful’ Letter to Conservatives: I have “made fun”
of Tea Baggers –HotAir

In Obama’s personal hand written letter to a Conservative Texas school teacher he writes:

“I sincerely believe the health care reform bill was the right thing to do for the country…And I hope that in the months to come, you will keep an open mind and evaluate it based not on the political attacks but on what it does or doesn’t do to improve peoples lives.”

Such as the 7 year old Hunter Alford of Gainsville, TX who is battling a rare form of cancer but lost his health insurance because of ObamaCare, World Net Daily reported this week.

Hunter Alford

Americans were told the health care law was designed to help children just like Hunter, born with a deadly pre-existing condition and little means to pay for expensive treatments.

Mr. Obama, what about the more than 1 Million California residents that have lost their health insurance thanks to ObamaCare or Malynda Birozy@Twitter who said about ObamaCare/Covered California: “I could actually afford health coverage before ObamaCare! Now I can’t afford any!!!”

What do you tell all of these people Mr. President?

ObamaCare ‘Buy 1 Month Get 3 Free’ Gives Fraudsters Ability to Stiff Health Care Providers

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

The Walking Deadbeats

(Watchdog.org) A little known provision tucked  inside nearly 11,000 pages of ObamaCare regulations, doles out ‘Buy 1 Month Get 3 Free’ months of health care to individuals that choose to default on their premiums but soon, only for those not living in California.

People that receive the ObamaCare federal subsidy will be permitted to incur a 3 month ‘grace period’ if they can’t or won’t pay their premiums and then simply cancel their policies stiffing doctors and hospitals–their only down side is that they’ll have to wait the for following year’s ‘open enrollment’ if they want ObamaCare coverage again.

“It will break the system said, Rep Louie Golmert (R-TX) “This is a huge piece of evidence to show this can’t work, you will bankrupt the system and bankrupt people involved.”

“The hospitals, doctors and insurance companies will be left holding the bag. There will be disagreements over who will pay for it. Lawyers will get involved because we are talking about a lot of money,” added Golmert.

The State of California has decided to nix ‘Buy 1 Month Get 3 Free’ regulation in ObamaCare and says it is drafting language to state law that will say, policy holders will be suspended and unable to use their ObamaCare plan after one month of non-payment, which is consistent with other health insurance plans purchased outside ‘Covered California’ exchange.

Besides the ‘Buy 1 Month Get 3 Free’ non-sense ObamaCare rule, the Affordable Unaffordable Care Act also violates other California laws:

  • Prompt Pay: Which states that health plans must propmptly reimburse health care providers and
  • Rescission: The State of California has a host of conditions that must be in place before retroactively terminating a policy of insurance, none of which are addressed in ObamaCare.

In related ObamaCare/Covered California news, President Obama’s so called “ACA Cancellation Fix” which he announced last week, that would by ‘Executive Fiat’ allow insurance companies to sell policies of health insurance for one additional year which do not meet the new ObamaCare mandates, in order to help Democrats that voted for the health care law that they never read before passing, has been rejected by ‘Covered California’ Board of Directors in a unanimous decision today despite President Obama’s pleas at the White House this week with state insurance commissioners.

Obama is scheduled to appear at a luncheon at the SF JAZZ Center on the 25 November to benefit the DNC which is nearly broke but whether it is a sign of donor fatigue or a general lack of interest in seeing Obama in California again, tickets have not been selling as anticipated.
