Some Texas students at Trinity University, a private school in San Antonio, are demanding that the university remove the phrase “In the year of our Lord” from there diplomas.
One Muslim student Sidra Qureshi argues, “A diploma is a very personal item and people want to proudly display it in their offices and homes. By have the phrase “In the year of our Lord” it is directly referencing Jesus Christ and not everyone believes in Jesus Christ.”
Often times controversies seem to erupt across this nation where none exists.
Ms. Qureshi, chose to attend the private San Antonio school with ties to the Presbyterian Church and should have learned a little something about American History but must have been absent for that lecture?
Our Founding Father’s certainly did not have any issue with the phrase on “…the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven…” when ratifying the Constitution of the United States.
