Obama’s HHS Wants to Shut Down “Little Sisters of the Poor” Because They’re Not Religious Enough

(Investors Business Daily) The ‘Little Sisters of the Poor’ an international congregation of Catholic Women founded in 1839 by Saint Jeanne Jugan, presently serves the poor in over 30 countries around the world but this may all come to an end, at least in the United States if the Obama Administration gets their way.

Last Tuesday 24 September, the ‘Becket Fund for Religious Liberty’ filed a lawsuit on behalf  of the ‘Little Sisters of the Poor’ which faces millions of dollars in IRS fines for refusing to comply with ObamaCare’s mandate, that they provide to their employees free access to contraception, sterilization and abortion inducing drugs.

This is just the latest in a series of lawsuits filed by Catholics against the Obama Administration and their sacrilegious cronies, mandating that Christians violate their religious consciences, contrary of their First Amendment rights of religious liberty.

On the 14 June, EWTN–Global Catholic Network reported that a Democrat leaning group targeted the ‘Catholic Campaign for Human Development’ (CCHD) operated by the U.S. Bishops Conference, which provides millions of dollars annually to anti-poverty organizations–the Loony Liberal Lefty Democrat group alleged that the CCHD should not be able to bar funds (private monies of course) to groups supporting Abortion and Gay marriage.

I Support Senator Cruz: Go Ted Go!

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

I Support Ted Cruz(Monica Memo)  Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) took to the Senate Floor on Tuesday at 11:41 AM PDT promising to fight against ‘socialized medicine’ commonly referred to as ObamaCare until he “could no longer stand” 18 hours later he is still there fighting for America and Liberty with the assists from Senators: Mike Lee (R-UT) Rand Paul (R-KY) Marco Rubio (R-FL) Pat Roberts (R-KS) Jim Inhofe (R-OK) David Vitter (R-LA) and Michael Enzi (R-WY)

Amazing how time flies when you’re standing on principle (I’ve had the ‘discussion’ on since its started, its been time well spent)

Democrats and their minions are mocking Cruz, take for example (All the News That’s Fit to Print–ROFLOL) Witness today’s editorial in the NY Times entitled “The Embarrassment of Ted Cruz” they were not “embarrassed” for Texas State Senator Wendy Davis when she filibustered  a bill that protected unborn babies after 20 weeks. This is how the Left thinks–the abortion cult of death: Yay! Individual liberty and economic freedom: Boo!

We expect this from the Democrats and the Left–What is particularly shameful is the treatment of Cruz by so many of his fellow Republicans. Please take a moment to call, email or tweet the Senators above and thank them for standing with Cruz and not surrendering the country to socialized medicine.

As for the other Senators…All Of Them, please call, email or tweet them and politely let them know that you support Ted Cruz and the effort to defund ObamaCare–tell them to vote “No” on Cloture, otherwise they will be voting to FOR ObamaCare and we’ll be watching what they do.

(KSTE Sacramento/Daily Caller) A police officer at Modesto Junior College told a patriotic Libertarian student that it was against (at a publicly funded) college rules for him to hand out copies of the U.S. Constitution on campus.

When was the 1st Amendment repealed?

The exchange between student Robert Van Tuinen and a campus police officer was captured on video Tuinen told the campus police officer that he wished to start a Young Americans for Liberty chapter on campus and hoped that passing out copies of the Constitution on campus would generate interest in that. The Modesto Junior College police officer however maintained, that Van Tuinen was still not permitted to distribute fliers without college authorization.

Modesto Junior College Police Officer: “Anytime anything is being passed out…you have to go through the student development office.”

Robert Van Tuinen: “Do you know what this is? Why are there rules tied to my free speech?”

The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression which includes the right to free speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances and the implied rights of association and belief without government interference.

Nevertheless, the Modesto Junior College police officer brought Van Tuinen before Administrator Christine Serrano where he was advised because of a “time, place and manner” he can only pass out literature inside the “free speech area.”

Serrano asks Van Tuinen to fill out an application and photocopy his student ID–Serrano says that she has “two people right now so you’d have to wait until either the 20th, 27th or you can go into October.”

Van Tuinen protests that he wants to pass out the Constitutions on ‘Constitution Day’ at which point Serrano tells him, “You really do not need to keep going on.”

Censorship=Tyranny: Senate Democrat Committee OKs Measure Redefining Who May Be a Journalist

Censorship--TyrannySen Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) Wants to Limit Who Can Be a Journalist
Trigga Nometry/Twitter

(Breitbart) The most recent Congressional threat to a Free Press in the United States comes from the Senate Democrat-Progressive/Socialist Majority Judiciary Committee, which approved today 15-3 a measure that would redefine “Journalist” clearing the way for approval of the legislation.

Under the proposed legislation a “Journalist” would now be defined as an employee, independent contractor or agent of an entity that disseminates news or information–the individual would have been employed for 1 year within the last 20 or 3 months within the last 5 years; It would apply to ‘student journalists’ or someone with a considerable amount of freelance work in the last 5 years. A federal judge would also have the authority to declare one a ‘covered journalist’ who would be granted privileges of the new proposed law.

(Hmm..I wonder if Benjamin Franklin and James Madison could have called themselves journalists under such a broad definition? I digress)

“I think journalism has a certain tradecraft. Its a profession. I recognize that everyone can think they’re a journalist,” said Sen Dianne Feinstein.

The language incorporated into the proposed legislation is raising concerns from First Amendment advocates because it seems to have deliberately left out Bloggers and other non-traditional forms of journalism that have proliferated in recent years thanks to the Internet writes The Western Center for Journalism.

“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.” President Harry S. Truman

Obama Pushes New End Run Around Congress and Cell Phone Tax for “Connect Ed” Program

(WaPo) President Obama liked the idea laid out in a memo from his Staffers so much that he just couldn’t wait to share the latest ambitious plan of doing an end-run around Congress and impose a new fee tax on Americans cell phone users to pay for his next big idea.

Obama Administration Senior Advisors have described “Connect Ed” that would expand high speed Internet access to 99% schools across the country within 5 years as one of the biggest potential achievements of Obama’s second term.

Flashback: Remember Article 1 Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution and Obama’s no new tax pledge of any kind on Americans earning $200,000 or less and Families earning $250,000–They were so yesterday.

Like King James II, Obama’s Decision Not to Enforce Laws he Doesn’t Like Is an Abuse of Power

(FOX News) Imperial President Obama’s decision to suspend the ObamaCare Employer Mandate may be a welcome relief for businesses affected by this provision but it raises serious concerns about his understanding of the role of the Executive branch in our system of government.

Article II Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution states, “he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” This is a duty, not a discretionary power–while the president does have substantial discretion about how to enforce the law, he has no discretion about whether to do so.

This matter–the limits of Executive power has deep historical roots. During the period of royal absolutism, English monarchs asserted a right to dispense with parliamentary statues they disliked.

King James II use of prerogative was a key grievance that led to the ‘Glorious Revolution of 1688’ —The first provision of the English Bill of Rights of 1689 was the most important precursor of our Constitution–declared that, ‘the presidential power of suspending of laws or the execution of laws by regal authority without consent of parliament is illegal.’

Like King James, a president’s decision not to enforce laws he doesn’t like is an abuse of power.

Of all the stretches of Executive power Americans have seen the last few years, President Obama’s unilateral suspension of statues may have the most disturbing long-term effects. As the Supreme Court noted in

Kendall -v- United States (1838) 37 U.S. 524 allowing the president to refuse to enforce statues passed by Congress, ‘would be clothing the President with a power to control the legislation of Congress and paralyze the administration of justice.’

Republican opponents of ObamaCare may say the suspension of the employer mandate is such good policy that there is no need to worry about it’s constitutionality writes Hot Air but if the president can dispense with laws and parts of laws that he disagrees with, the implication of constitutional government are dire.

Imprimis: The Miracle of Freedom by Sen Ted Cruz

Democracy --Oilgo OhDemocracy –Image: Oligo Oh

(Imprimis/Hillsdale College) The following is adapted from a speech delivered by Sen Ted Cruz, (R-TX) at Hillsdale College’s 161st Commencement 11 May, 2013

Today is a day of celebration. For you graduates, its a day to celebrate your hard work, your commitment, time, energy passion and prayers that you have put in to graduate from Hillsdale College. It’s also a day to celebrate the sacrifice and dedication your family has put in to get you here.

I am honored to join you today but let me say, I fully recognize the most forgettable part of this important day is going to be the politician delivering your commencement address.

This morning I had the opportunity to tour your wonderful campus and one of the highlights for me was the statue of Margret Thatcher. I understand that when the statue was unveiled, she sent a letter of praise that read: “Hillsdale College symbolizes everything that is good and true in America. You uphold the principles and cherish the values which have made your country a beacon of hope.” I couldn’t agree more.

There are commencements being held on campuses all over the country this Spring but this one is different. Hillsdale, it is known across the country, is in a class by itself.

Those graduating from other colleges are being told to go out and make something of themselves but for the Men and Women receiving their degrees today, expectations are higher because of the education you received here, you are uniquely prepared to provide desperately needed, principled leadership to your families, your churches, your communities, your country and your fellow man.

While other graduates have been exposed to college courses such as ‘Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame’ you have been grounded in an understanding of our Constitution and of the freedom it was designed to preserve.

Last month the world lost Baroness Thatcher and in her honor, I’d like to spend a few minutes discussing with you, “The Miracle of Freedom…”

Obama Defends NSA Spying on Americans as Transparent

Obama Transparency --Chicago TribuneObama’s Transparency –Cartoon: Taking a Stantis/Chicago Tribune

(Buzz Feed) President Obama in a rambling answer to PBS’s Charlie Rose on NSA spying of Americans in violation of ones 4th Amendment rights to privacy and his oath of office, claims:

“Occasionally there are going to be checkpoints (such as was in Nazi Germany, I digress) they may be intrusive…It is transparent, that is why we set up the (secret) FISA Court.”
