Depart from evil (sin) and do good, so you shall abide forever. For the Lord loves justice;
He will not forsake His faithful ones. The righteous shall be kept safe forever but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. –Psalm 37:27-28 Image Courtesy: I Love Jesus & Mary
Life In The Spirit
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! For the Law of the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the Law of sin and of death. For God has done
what the Law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: By sending His own Son in the likeness of
sinful flesh and to deal with sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the just requirement of
the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh but those
who live according to the Spirit, set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on
the flesh is death but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For this reason the mind
that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; It does not submit to God’s Law — indeed it cannot and
those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
To Christians:
You are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who
does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him but if Christ is in you, though the body
is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of Him
(God the Father) who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in You, He who raised Christ from the
dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through His Spirit that dwells in you.
The Power of The Gospel
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel; It is the power of God for Salvation to everyone who has
faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Gentile) for in it the righteousness of God is
revealed through faith for faith; as it is written:
“The one who is righteous will live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)
The Guilt of Humankind
For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those
who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them
because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world His eternal power and
Divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things He
has made. So they are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not honor Him as
God or give thanks to Him but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds
were darkened. Claiming to be wise they became fools; they exchanged the glory of the
Immortal God for images resembling a mortal human being or birds or
four-footed animals or reptiles.
Therefore God have them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their
bodies among themselves because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie, worshiped and
served the creature (Satan) rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural
intercourse for unnatural and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with
women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with
men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.
Since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to
things that should not be done. They were filled with every kind of wickedness, evil,
covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, craftiness, they are gossips,
slanderers, God-haters, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, rebellious towards
parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. They knew God’s decree, that those who practice
such things deserve to die — yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice
them. –Romans 1:16-32
Repent or Perish
At that very time there were some present who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood
Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Jesus (answering) asked them, “Do you think because
these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? No I tell,
you; Unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or the eighteen who were killed when
the Tower of Siloam fell on them — do you think that they were worse offenders than all the
others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you;
Unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.”
The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard and he came looking
for fruit on it and found none. So he said to the gardener, ‘See here! For three years I have
come looking for fruit on this fig tree and still I find none. Cut it down!
Why should it be wasting the soil?’
He (the gardener) replied, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put
manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good but if not, you can cut it down.'”
