(CNA) The 4th Annual ‘March For Life’ held in Rome today, drew tens of thousands of attendees from across Italy, Europe and the United States–the dinosaur media throughout the U.S. are silent.
“The beautiful thing about this march is that its always been international.” explained Joseph Meaney, Director of Coordination for the global pro-life organization Human Life International. The Italians have had a pro-life movement for years, decades but they’ve never really had a lot of marches and so they put this together with all different kinds of Italian groups, widening out to European and now even further,” Meaney added.
Elvira, a 17 yr old young woman from Poland traveled to Rome with a group of 50 young people, she wanted to show that “life is very important for everyone.”
Pope Francis touched on this theme to his greeting to the march participants saying, “Many congratulations and go forward and work on this,” noting that this years ‘March For Life’ had “an international and ecumenical character.”
Italian pro-life organizers found that going to the Washington, D.C. event was an “extraordinary occasion to meet pro-life people,” said Virginia Coda Nunziante, that march gave them an idea of “doing something similar in Italy.”
On Thursday 08 May and Saturday 10 May, EWTN reports that thousands will be descending upon Ottawa, Canada Parliament for the 17th National March For Life.
