Today Christians Commemorate St. Benjamin, Martyr for Christ Jesus, Please Pray For Us!

(Catholic Online) Benjamin a Deacon in Persia (present day Iran) declared that it was his duty to proclaim ‘The Good News’ of Jesus and that he could not be silent, no matter the consequence. Once imprisoned for a year for his faith in Jesus, he was released pursuant to an agreement made between the Ambassador of the Emperor of Constantinople and the Persian authorities that he would never again speak of his faith in Jesus.

Deacon Benjamin would refuse to acquiesce to that agreement and neglected no opportunity to evangelize to all who would hear. Once again apprehended and brought before the King, Deacon Benjamin was ordered to be executed.

Reeds were thrust between his fingernails, flesh and all the tender parts of his body and then removed, this painful torture was repeated several times, subsequently a knotted stake was forced into his bowels, Deacon Benjamin died following this most terrible agony.

  • Jesus: “Do not fear those who kill the body but can not kill the soul, rather fear Him (Almighty God) who can destroy both soul and body in Hell.” –Matthew 10:28

St. Benjamin, please pray that we’ll always be faithful to Christ Jesus and unafraid to proclaim Jesus’ message of Salvation, no matter the consequence.
