‘Patriot Act’ Author Says Obama’s Surveillance of Americans Violates the Law

(Washington Times) Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, (R-WI)  who wrote the “Patriot Act” said that he never intended for the snooping law to be used to grab millions of records in a government fishing expedition like the secret FISA Court approved Verizon phone records surveillance according to news reports today.

Stung by Verizon revelations, a number of lawmakers came forward Thursday to say they never intended the laws they wrote following the 9/11 attacks to be used to go after records so broadly as the Obama Administration admits doing and defended today.
