U.S. State Dept Inspector General reported on Wednesday, out of more than 1 Billion emails created, agency employees only preserved 61,156 records in 2011 because employees did “not want to make the email(s) available in searches.”
In 2009 an upgrade in the U.S. State Dept’s system facilitated the preservation of emails as official records however under Hillary Clinton’s watch, agency employees did not receive adequate training or guidance of the responsibilities for using the systems to preserve “record emails” the government’s watchdog said–even though,”every employee in the department has the responsibility of preserving emails that should be retained as official records,’ the IG report added.
